Almond Recipes for Almond Lovers 🀟

Hey friends❣️

There's a reason you crave almond flavor ~ its sweet, nutty, slightly floral flavor leaves a lingering finish that no other flavor can match. It comes from benzaldehyde found in bitter almonds, which is responsible for the strong, marzipan-like, cherry-almond aroma we associate with almond extract and certain almond-flavored products. Yum.

β€œI followed the recipe as is & it was so good, my family really liked it! I used pre-shredded cabbage & precut celery & carrots, just chopped those finer. I’m Asian & already had all the spices & sauce ingredients in the pantry.

I love to make delicious food, photograph it, and write about it, but mostly, I just love to EAT. Isn’t that what it’s all about? My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun!

pear coffee cake

Hey friends❣️ The recipes that come out of the Great Island kitchen are a family affair. My oldest daughter works with me side by side on all aspects of the site, and she tackles some of the more complex recipes we share (have you seen our Swedish Cardamom Buns or our Bûche de Noël Cake?) My son-in-law is the force behind our multi-day homemade corned beef, and our foray into kefir making. My husband is my restaurant and farmers market partner, and does clean up on recipe testing days (bless...
