When it comes to the cooking calendar, September is the jewel in the crown. Maybe it’s the cooler air, but suddenly we’re ready to perfect that beef stew or spend an afternoon baking. It’s not just apples and pumpkins ~ the harvest is in full swing, and tomatoes and corn have never been sweeter. A calm settles over the kitchen as the buzz of summer fades. Out come my giant glass canisters of flour, sugars, oats…I can’t wait.

(My callouts this month? If you're into wine the jelly is a wonderful discovery: incredibly easy and fun to share. And I'm making the roast chicken with apples this week for Sunday dinner. As for baking, it's all good ~ but I can't recommend that apple strudel enough! ❤️)
