🌿 Sunday on Great Island

Hey friends❣️

Happy Sunday!

Before I get to the snacks, something's been on my mind lately...

In a moment when food content can be generated on a screen in seconds, I’m still here cooking real food in a real kitchen and taking real pictures of it.

Why?

Because food is about as human as it gets: we literally become what we eat, after all. And food inspires real passion. We crave it, we celebrate with it, and a perfect plate of fries can make just about anything better.

When I create a recipe, I’m with it the whole way: from choosing the ingredients, to cooking, tasting, tweaking, and deciding what’s worth sharing. All that gets rolled into every recipe I post.

But a single AI-driven site can now generate the appearance of an entire food website in minutes: recipes, images, videos, tips, FAQs, even a friendly-sounding “person” behind it all.

That’s the part that’s hard to wrap my head around: not just bot-built recipes, but bot-built recipes at a scale no human cook can ever match.

And here’s the thing ~ a human recipe developer brings a body, a memory, an appetite, and a point of view to the food. My recipes are more than information. They're an experience I pass from me to you, from one cook to another.

So I intend to keep showing up here, one real recipe at a time.

Thanks for listening. Now on to the good stuff!

Soccer-Friendly Snacks

With the World Cup already underway, I’m thinking snacks, easy dinners, and anything you can eat with one eye on a game.

The summer dinners I'm loving lately 🌿

One small upgrade, big payoff 👀

I love to make delicious food, photograph it, and write about it, but mostly, I just love to EAT. Isn’t that what it’s all about? My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun.

~ see you at the table!

Frozen Mudslide Pie

Hey friends❣️ We made it through the torrential Midwest rains and today the sun is shining ~ you better believe dinner will be outside on the patio tonight. And dessert is the headliner. I’ve got a brand new recipe to share today and I’m kind of in love. How could you not love this pie? It’s got everything we want in a summer dessert: a chocolate crumb crust, a frosty spiked mocha filling, a chocolate drizzle, and whipped cream. It’s no-bake, make-ahead friendly, and just boozy enough to feel...

Green Goddess Salmon

Hey friends❣️ My breakfast might not always be healthy (cue the Dessert for Breakfast section on my site...) but dinner is usually a healthy-ish affair in our house, and I find that easiest to stick to in summer. These favorite dinners are all inspired by classic bright green sauces that are a staple in my kitchen. Green Goddess Salmon Every cook should know how to make Green Goddess. It's honestly one of the most vividly flavored dressing I've ever encountered, and it can be translated into...

Lemon Poppy Seed Bars

Hey friends❣️ Sometimes it’s the smallest tweak that changes everything. For me, poppy seeds are one of those tiny ingredients that make food feel instantly more interesting ~ a little crunch, a little nuttiness, and suddenly a familiar recipe has a whole new personality. Latest example: my new favorite lemon bars. Lemon Poppy Seed Bars get the recipe Tip: if you love poppy seeds, buy them in larger jars, but store them in the refrigerator to keep them fresh. Clockwise from top left: Lemon...
