🌿 Sunday on Great Island

Hey friends❣️

Happy Sunday!

Well. What a week. Insane heat. Smokey air. And scary produce. I'm actually looking forward to Monday!

I've blacklisted lettuce for now, which is overkill, I'm sure, but it has opened up some fresh new dinner ideas for mid July.

But first ~ if you didn't see yesterday's Spiced Peach Cobbler Bars, run, don't walk. I just had a leftover bar for breakfast and I can't rave enough.

Likewise my new Lemon Herb Macaroni Salad. Really good stuff. And if you're a cherry lover my new Cherry Almond Skillet Cake is a must. I was on a roll this week!

July dinners that aren't salad...

If you've ever lived on the Eastern seacoast you know that chowder is a summer tradition. I love it, my family loves it, and it's surprisingly quick to make, so it's a regular throughout the season. The classic, above, is made with any firm white fish, but I love making chowder with salmon and also smoked salmon. I make it vegetarian too:

Here are a few more ideas (clock wise from top left)

  1. Coffee Rubbed Chicken Thighs
  2. Tomato Tart (with a Press-in Crust!)
  3. Sweet Corn Polenta
  4. Weeknight Dan Dan Noodles

My favorite chowder pot sits out on my stove, I never put it away. Mine is white, but I love all the colors it comes in.

Spiced peach bars

Hey friends❣️ These spiced peach cobbler bars are extraordinary. I know it's a big claim but I can back it up. The combination of juicy summer peaches with the lightly spiced 'cobbler' dough is uniquely delicious ~ these aren't your same-old peach bars. And yes, I actually moaned. Lemon Herb Macaroni Salad

Hey friends❣️ There’s something about macaroni salad that’s more than the sum of its parts. The chewy little elbow noodles, the tangy mayo dressing, the crunchy bits of celery ~ it makes my mouth water, and I’m not even sure exactly why. There’s no mystery with my new version, though. The lemon and herbs make everything I love about macaroni salad even more irresistible.
