Your One-Stop Apple Cake Shop 🍏🍎

Hey friends❣️

Toss the big bag of apples in the cart ~ you're going to need them when baking your way through this lineup. Consider it your one-stop apple cake shop.

Apple Cake Collection

Apples lend themselves to simple homey cakes, but there are some showstoppers in this lineup for holidays, dinner parties, and birthdays, for sure.

The apple that revolutionized my cooking & baking

The Honeycrisp. It's a modern apple variety bred in Minnesota in the 1960s but only just came on the scene in the 90s. It's ultra-crisp with a super juicy bite, and a clean sweet-tart flavor that stays vivid (and crisp!) after cooking.

My secret: I always toss it with lemon juice which not only prevents browning but amps up the flavor.

I use Honeycrisp in so many recipes, both sweet and savory!

This was amazingly delicious. I made this last night and we were just so excited to find another dish that was easy and simple and taste great. I only boiled enough noodles for 2 and we ate it 2 nights in a row and it was just as good for leftovers.

I love to make delicious food, photograph it, and write about it, but mostly, I just love to EAT. Isn’t that what it’s all about? My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun!

grated potato casserole

Hey friends❣️ I may have found it, the perfect side: easy, make-ahead, feeds a crowd, budget-friendly ~ and who doesn’t love a creamy potato situation? The Coziest Grated Potato Casserole This Finnish inspired casserole is a winner, I'll be calling on it all fall. With old school meatloaf, pork chops, and salmon, for sure. With roast chicken it's a no brainer. When it was just my husband and me we were able to portion out leftovers for several meals, it keeps beautifully! The gratin dish...

chocolate cake

Hey friends❣️ They call it a false fall here in the Midwest ~ we had all the crisp weather and cozy feels for the past 2 weeks and now we're warming up. That's fine with me, the tomatoes are still killing it right now and last night I just dumped a pint of tiny rainbow cherries into a screaming hot pan with olive oil and a little garlic and swirled them around for a minute or two. Then I sloshed in some hot salty pasta, added more olive oil and some fresh basil and Parm. Yum. A little bit...
