I’ve got this 🙂

Hey friends❣️

I just had a “milestone” birthday and, naturally, all the cliché thoughts came rushing in… where’s my life going, what's next, what have I accomplished?

One thing I can say without much soul-searching is that I’ve mastered the art of shortbread 🙂

I’ve created so many shortbread recipes over the years that I’m starting to circle back and revisit them. When I do, I re-test, tweak where needed, and give them a fresh set of (always delicious) new photos.

Turkish Coffee Shortbread (circa 2014)

This shortbread is unlike any you’ve had before, I promise. The smoky flavor of coffee and the warm, aromatic note of cardamom will win you over, one bite at a time.

Slice it into wedges like I’ve done here, or roll the dough into a log for slice-and-bake cookies. Dunk it in chocolate or give it an elegant drizzle. That’s the beauty of shortbread ~ it’s always happy to oblige.

And since we can’t live on shortbread alone (sadly), here are a couple of chicken dinner ideas to round out the week…

Creamy Lemon Basil Chicken 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I made this recipe (lemon basil chicken thighs) for the first time tonight, and both my husband and I loved it! Lots of flavor and the sauce is so good, we had to dip bread in it! Delicious! I didn’t have any sherry so substituted dry vermouth…. Thank you for your inspirations!

I love to make delicious food, photograph it, and write about it, but mostly, I just love to EAT. Isn’t that what it’s all about? My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun!

healthy side of salmon

Hey friends❣️ Good morning! Today I’m sharing a little bit of my personal health story with you. Like many of us, I take a statin to keep my cholesterol in check. I tolerate it well and don’t have any side effects, so it’s just been one of those background things in my life for years. About a year ago, I made a simple, delicious change: I started eating salmon two to three times a week. It wasn’t a hard sell ~ I adore it, and so does my whole family. At my most recent checkup, my lipid panel...

Classic British Recipes

Hey friends❣️ The British really do cozy better than just about anyone ~ from afternoon tea with scones and clotted cream to simple cakes, shortbread, puddings, and savory pies. We owe them a big thanks, because so many “classic” foods we love here in the U.S. trace their roots back to British kitchens.
