It's HERE! 👉 (Your July Bucket List)

Hey friends❣️

July! Wow. It’s the month that defines summer, but that can mean so many different things depending on where you’re reading from.

Here in Wisconsin we’re just getting started ~ last Sunday’s farmers market was all spring onions and lettuces, kohlrabi, rhubarb, snap peas, and a few baby squash here and there.

But the US is big, and I know many of you are already in full summer mode. So let’s get to it. Friends below the equator, save these for your summer!

Your must make recipes for July

I'm a magpie when it comes to heirloom cherry tomatoes. I literally can't pass them by without buying a pint or two, and there are always lots on my counter. So even before the big guys are ready, these gems scratch the tomato itch!

  1. Cherry Tomato Focaccia
  2. Pico de Gallo Salad

Sheet cakes are big this month because we're all eating outside (and we all want cake!)

  1. Old Fashioned Zucchini Cake (or my decadent chocolate version!)
  2. Mint Chocolate Chip Sheet Cake

Staying hydrated is important in 90 degree weather, but sometimes plain water doesn't cut it.

  1. Raspberry Agua Fresca
  2. Homemade Cream Soda

Of course there's red white and blue, it's July after all.

  1. Red White and Blue Watermelon Salad
  2. Red White and Blue Brownie Bites

We're still baking in July, but we're folding lots of juicy fruit into our batters!

This is the Cuisinart ice cream maker I've used for over 20 years. It makes ice cream in 20 minutes, and it never breaks down, partly due to the very simple on/off button (which I appreciate!)

It's currently only $69, which I think is a steal for a machine that gives so much pleasure.

What's for dinner? The best mid-summer meals are light and effortless elegant.

  1. Mediterranean Orzo Salad with Tuna
  2. Pork Tenderloin with Pineapple Salsa

My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun!

See you at the table!

Summer Slaw Recipes

Hey friends❣️ Happy Sunday! My younger daughter and her boyfriend moved into a rental house on the other side of town, and they threw a housewarming party this week. Hanging over the fence in the backyard was a massive mulberry tree, so you know I didn't leave that party without a Ziploc baggie full of juicy little purple mulberries. I haven't shared a mulberry recipe yet on my site, so this will be a first. Can you guess what I made? But today we've got a heat advisory, so slaw is on the...

BBQ Side Dishes

Hey friends❣️ I’m a side dish kind of girl, whether it’s Thanksgiving or the Fourth. The mains can have their moment, but I’m always circling back to the backup dishes ~ that’s where all the fun is. Today I’m sharing my favorite summer barbecue side dishes, the kind that make the whole meal feel like a spread. Corn, beans, biscuits, salads, slaws… basically everything I want on my plate before I even get to the ribs. BBQ Sides get the recipes Did you know? You can set The View from Great...
