🌿 Sunday on Great Island

Hey friends❣️

Happy Mother's Day!

This weekend coincides with peak lilac bloom here in Wisconsin so you'll find me at the arboretum today ~ no cooking, just lots of sniffing :)

This week's recipe re-test

It's kind of perfect for Mother's Day. My homemade version of Boursin cheese debuted way back in 2016 and it's been popular ever since. When I decided to give it a refresh I wasn't intending to change the recipe...why fix it if it isn't broken?

But during the re-testing phase I discovered a few tweaks that make it even better. It's a great use for all those spring herbs.

➡ Heads up! This easy cheese is the absolute best host gift ever. Spoon it into a little Weck jar ~ the small tulip shape works great for this.

Homemade Boursin Cheese

The companion recipe to this cheese is another copycat I’m really proud of. These crackers are incredible ~ crisp, seedy, lightly sweet, and endlessly customizable with different combinations of fruit, nuts, and seeds.

And they’re actually fun to make. No special skills required, I promise!

3 Healthy Breakfasts I Love ☀️

I love to make delicious food, photograph it, and write about it, but mostly, I just love to EAT. Isn’t that what it’s all about? My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun.

~ see you in the table!

Hummus Mezze Platter

olive oil granola

Hey friends❣️ I'm not gonna lie, I love a little dessert for breakfast once in a while. You can see that in my breakfast recipe collection: so many scones, coffee cakes, and muffins to choose from. But I balance that with healthier choices, especially now that spring is here. Mediterranean Olive Oil Granola get the recipe Granola gets a bad rap because of the added oil, but here I use olive oil and the result is not only heart healthy but surprisingly delicious! You can use a mild or pure oil...
