Mediterranean May Menu 🍋

Hey friends❣️

If I had to limit myself to one culinary tradition for the rest of my life, it would be Mediterranean. It’s fresh, colorful, endlessly varied, and it just fits the way I love to cook and eat ~ especially in May.

Hummus Mezze Platter

My new hummus platter is a winner. I created it as an appetizer but it could easily double as a meal, just add grilled shrimp, some great tuna, or falafel.

Mediterranean Sheet Pan Salmon

This sheet pan salmon looks special but is one of the easiest meals in my rotation. I love to make it for guests because I only need to pop it in the oven and set the timer for 20-30 minutes. I often slide the fish ~ right on the parchment ~ from the pan to a large platter and let people help themselves.

Mediterranean Bean Salad

I'll alternate between this and my other Mediterranean salads like Mediterranean Artichoke Salad and Orzo Salad with Creamy Lemon Dressing.

Raspberry Frangipane Tart

There is no shortage of amazing Mediterranean desserts, but this one seems especially perfect for a May meal. 🌸

Raspberry Almond Bars

"I made these raspberry almond bars for my local library’s book/bake sale last year. I was asked to PLEASE make them for every future bake sale we have! I double the recipe now and they all disappear quickly. So thanks from me and from our library bake sales!"

I love to make delicious food, photograph it, and write about it, but mostly, I just love to EAT. Isn’t that what it’s all about? My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun.

~ see you in the kitchen!

olive oil granola

Hey friends❣️ I'm not gonna lie, I love a little dessert for breakfast once in a while. You can see that in my breakfast recipe collection: so many scones, coffee cakes, and muffins to choose from. But I balance that with healthier choices, especially now that spring is here. Mediterranean Olive Oil Granola get the recipe Granola gets a bad rap because of the added oil, but here I use olive oil and the result is not only heart healthy but surprisingly delicious! You can use a mild or pure oil...

Marinated Hummus Platter

Hey friends❣️ Happy Sunday! Last Sunday everybody bailed on dinner at the last minute, so we found ourselves with a feast for two that carried us through the next few days. There are worse dinner emergencies, I have to admit. Not everything I test makes it to publication, but this marinated hummus platter absolutely will. It’s colorful, fresh, and so good with warm pita bread or baked pita chips ~ it could easily be dinner. Keep an eye out for it this week. Featured recipe re-test My Glazed...

cherry tomato salad

knead Hey friends❣️ It's official. Winter's gone. Break out your salad bowls and your paper plate collection. Exhale... This is the moment we all start cooking like it’s summer, even though the garden is still catching up. There’s a disconnect between what’s actually growing in May and what the supermarket is trying to sell us. So don’t go near those big tomatoes yet, they’re a trap! Stick with little cherry tomatoes this month ~ they’re almost always good. Happy May! Cherry Tomato Caprese...
