The Dietary Swap ๐Ÿงˆ That Could Lengthen Your Life

Hey friendsโฃ๏ธ

Put that bottle of olive oil out on the counter, you're going to need it!

โ€‹Lemon Olive Oil Cakeโ€‹

A fascinating although not surprising article from The Harvard Gazette came out last week and confirms that swapping out butter (even a little bit!) for plant based oils can actually help you live longer.

Ok, so maybe you're not going to slather your morning toast with olive oil, but there are plenty of ways to take advantage of this, and guess what? Even a little change can make a difference!

โ€œ
The researchers also did a substitution analysis, which mimics how swapping butter for plant oils would impact health in a feeding trial. They found that substituting 10 grams of butter a day (less than a tablespoon) with equivalent calories of plant-based oils could lower cancer deaths and overall mortality by 17 percent.

And of course baking is only one way to swap olive oil for butter. I do it every almost every night when I cook dinner!

I love to make delicious food, photograph it, and write about it, but mostly, I just love to EAT. Isnโ€™t that what itโ€™s all about? My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun!

Green Goddess Salmon

Hey friendsโฃ๏ธ My breakfast might not always be healthy (cue the Dessert for Breakfast section on my site...) but dinner is usually a healthy-ish affair in our house, and I find that easiest to stick to in summer. These favorite dinners are all inspired by classic bright green sauces that are a staple in my kitchen. Green Goddess Salmon Every cook should know how to make Green Goddess. It's honestly one of the most vividly flavored dressing I've ever encountered, and it can be translated into...

Lemon Poppy Seed Bars

Hey friendsโฃ๏ธ Sometimes itโ€™s the smallest tweak that changes everything. For me, poppy seeds are one of those tiny ingredients that make food feel instantly more interesting ~ a little crunch, a little nuttiness, and suddenly a familiar recipe has a whole new personality. Latest example: my new favorite lemon bars. Lemon Poppy Seed Bars get the recipe Tip: if you love poppy seeds, buy them in larger jars, but store them in the refrigerator to keep them fresh. Hey friendsโฃ๏ธ Happy Sunday! We're celebrating my youngest daughter's birthday here tonight but I still haven't settled on a menu. Good thing I'm up early. I'm thinking tacos ~ maybe my Instant Pot barbacoa or short ribs. I could make Mexican street corn salad but I'll probably default to corn on the cob to make my life easier. Speaking of corn I'm testing Mexican street corn chowder tomorrow, I'm so excited. In fact the new summer recipes are piling up faster than I can get them out to you,...
