New scones and new videos ๐ŸŒท fresh for spring!

Hey friendsโฃ๏ธ

Is there a better flavor combo for scones? I don't think so.

โ€‹Blackberry Lemon Sconesโ€‹

I do a lot of cooking and baking, that's an understatement! And when I want a break from the stress of my job, I bake scones. They're fun to make, always elegant, and a treat for me, especially since my favorite coffee ship no longer sells them.

Fruit scones are favorites of mine,

Fresh fruit scones tend to bake up a little looser and slightly unevenly because of the moist chunks of fruit, that's part of their charm.

If you love a sharper edged scone, try my date scones, or my classic cream scones.

Taste and texture are excellent! I doubled the recipe and baked in a 9 x 13 for 1:15. Will make again, good enough for company. Another winner, Sue!

I love to make delicious food, photograph it, and write about it, but mostly, I just love to EAT. Isnโ€™t that what itโ€™s all about? My recipes are bold and vibrant, but totally approachable ~ and my philosophy? We should all have the tools to feed ourselves well, and the confidence to cut loose a little in the kitchen. Food should be fun!

tasting winning chili recipe

Hey friendsโฃ๏ธ You guys really came through for our first challenge, yay! Our winner this month is Stephanie, from Virginia. Her Spiced Chili blew us away, and it's featured on the site today! I absolutely love this chili, it's not hot, just filled with warm aromatic spices that marry together into the most unusual chili I've had in a long time. Bravo Stephanie! Stephanies Spiced Chili Great ideas from runners-up Becky sent in a super simple chili recipe perfect for beginner cooks and she...

Golden roast chicken, crispy skin

Hey friendsโฃ๏ธ This is the better-than-rotisserie chicken that just makes life a little bit easier, and a whole lot juicer. Roast one (or better yet two) and eat well for a week. Save the carcass to make soup and you'll basically win meal prep, win life. Perfect Roast Chicken (with lemon and herbs) I try to balance full-on cooking with shortcuts so I don't wear myself out getting dinner on the table. In this case I'm not above instant mash and frozen peas. Or have you tried those Minute rice...

British School Cake with Custard

Hey friendsโฃ๏ธ Do any of you watch the Great British Baking Show? This fun cake was the 'technical challenge' this week ~ it's a nostalgic little dessert that used to be served in UK schools. I tried it andโ€ฆwow. New favorite. British School Cake! The combination of the vanilla sponge with a thin layer of sweet icing and the silky custard is amazing. If you've made my Irish Apple Cake you've got the idea. (The custard is similar to my Creme Anglaise except it uses whole milk, not cream.) Do any...
